WHY FOR WOMEN?
Female Bodies are Unique!
As women, we face a different set of challenges than men when it comes to postural alignment, natural areas of body strength/weakness, and even center of gravity. These differences often present as a constellation of areas of stress, tension and discomfort. For years I worked in an office and suffered from terrible back, neck, and shoulder pain from sitting in front of a computer all day. This was exacerbated by undiagnosed scoliosis and various gym-induced injuries. So for you, office warrior, I have felt your pain! Part of what lead me to become an LMT were the great results I had as a client. I can work with you to help bring you relief and give you tools to prevent further pain.
WHAT ABOUT THE MAMA?
After I completed my studies at the Swedish Institute, I got my certification in Prenatal and Postpartum Massage Therapy and Infant Massage. I had the great pleasure of studying extensively with Susanrachel Condon of Niara Healing Arts. Her programs emphasized the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, the use of bodywork as an adjunct to prenatal care, and using massage as a means of developing deeper kinesthetic awareness in preparation for labor, birth, and postpartum recovery.
What does that mean in English?
It means I can work with women through each stage of motherhood to help them focus on their wellbeing so they can be the super mamas they were always meant to be!
Customized for YOU!
Whether you're in need of deep relaxation, want some post-baby bliss, have specific kinks and knots to work out, need some relief from the punishment of the gym, or something in-between, this massage is customized to fit your needs. Pressure varies depending on your preference from mild to deep. Modalities and techniques used during the treatment may include long, flowing Swedish massage strokes, targeted or flushing deep tissue work, trigger point release, myofascial release, acupressure, aromatherapy, cupping, gua sha, vibrational therapy utilizing the TheraGun, and Shiatsu and Thai Yoga Massage stretches. Topical analgesics (CBD, Po Sum On Oil, Tiger Balm), salves, and essential oils may also be utilized at no extra charge to extend post-session relief.
PRENATAL OR POSTPARTUM MASSAGE
Made for Mamas
This full body massage is given on a table prepared especially for mothers. A relaxing massage that helps you to remain comfortable throughout your pregnancy and well into motherhood, I work with you to relieve muscle spasms and cramps, and reduce stress in weight bearing joints and muscles, helping to enhance breathing capacity and bringing you into your body to help you feel more grounded and closer to your baby. This body work is safe and effective for mothers throughout their pregnancy and can be received from the 1st trimester through the 3rd, and even into labor.
A Zen Approach
Shiatsu utilizes a combination of pressure and assisted-stretching techniques that stimulate the circulation and flow of lymphatic fluid, release toxins and deep seated tensions from the muscles, stimulate the hormonal system and the immune system. Shiatsu also acts on the autonomic nervous system, allowing you to relax deeply and get in touch with your own healing power. You are fully clothed for these sessions, so please dress appropriately in loose, comfortable clothing that allows for full range of motion.
For the Road (or Spin...or Barre...) Warrior
For pre-event appointments, you will receive an invigorating massage. Up-tempo work, used to warm the joints and muscles, will relax your mind and prepare your body for the work ahead.
As a post-event massage, expect a slower tempo, relieving massage. Using long, sweeping strokes and gentle stretches, this massage will soothe tight, fatigued muscles and joints. Great after a day of physical stress and strain.
I am also a massage therapist and quite picky about who I will let massage me. I've had way too many massages where I felt not listened to and the therapist was just doing their "routine". Rebekkah completely helped me during all three trimesters of my pregnancy. At the end when my back got very angry, Rebekkah worked some hip magic ( I don't know what she did but it sure felt gooooood). I was able to walk out of there without nerve pain. Blissful!!!
Rebekkah Lee, LMT
Rebekkah and massage assistant Fidget
I am a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) practicing in the Financial District of New York City. I received my Associates Degree from the prestigious Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in Massage Therapy with a focus on Advanced Eastern Studies. Before opening my private practice, I was a massage therapist at Shibui Spa at the Greenwich Hotel in TriBeCa for seven years. While there I was one of the most frequently requested therapists by repeat clients.
Now I am able to bring the same quality of work that made Shibui one of the top spas for therapeutic massage in NYC to my private clients.
Why do I prefer a private practice?
I have found that a spa setting can tend toward a hurried, impersonal approach rather than the detailed intake I prefer to offer my clients. Working privately, I also have the freedom to customize each session to address the specific needs of my clients. Would myofascial work be more beneficial than deep tissue? Could a client have a more dynamic session if I utilized cupping or gua sha? In my private practice, my clients and I have the freedom to work together to tailor the session so that I can help them achieve their wellness goals - at a fraction of the spa price.
In each visit I target specific areas of tension and imbalance, and after the treatment, can provide feedback and suggestions for self care to help my clients leave their sessions with a renewed feeling of health, rejuvenation, and relaxation as well as tools of empowerment to care for their well being.
All services are by appointment only. Please contact me to book an appointment, for more information, and for rates and payment options. All rescheduling and cancellations require 24 hours notice to avoid being charged for your appointment. For prenatal clients, please include your due date in your inquiry. I do my best to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours.
Gift certificates are available.
If you have been referred by a current client, please note their name in the message field as I extend rewards for client referrals.
